Margaroli has built a reputation for Italian craftsmanship, engineering and beautifully finished towel warmers. We spoke with The Radiator Centre’s Managing Director, Nick Duggan, about what makes the brand stand out and why it remains a favourite among interior designers.

Nick, you’ve supplied Margaroli at The Radiator Centre for a number of years now. What was it about the brand that first drew you to them?

Their commitment to exceptional quality, both in materials and in their approach to manufacturing. What really set them apart was their ability to produce such a wide range of sizes and styles, which made them our go-to supplier for anything bespoke in the bathroom. More recently, the introduction of their PVD and galvanic finishes has pushed that further still, allowing their towel rails to be matched precisely to the leading luxury brands producing bathroom taps and accessories.

Margaroli is an Italian brand, and Italy has a long heritage in bathroom design. How does that influence the way they approach design and production?

Margaroli was founded in northern Italy in 1949 and holds the 100% Made in Italy certification from the Institute for the Protection of Italian Manufacturers, so the heritage runs deep. Italians have always brought a distinctive eye to design across every discipline, and bathroom design is no different. The majority of trends we see in the market originate from Italy and Margaroli, with over 75 years of craft behind them, are very much at the forefront of that. The combination of skilled, experienced staff working alongside high-tech automated machinery is what allows them to maintain that standard consistently.

What makes Margaroli towel warmers stand out in today’s design-led bathroom market?

Discerning clients are increasingly looking beyond a standard ladder rail, and Margaroli’s range offers exactly that. What surprises many people is that their radiators are not welded together in the conventional way. Instead, they use a unique modular method, joining individual sections to create the finished piece. That approach opens up a level of flexibility that most manufacturers simply cannot offer, allowing towel warmers to be designed specifically for the spaces they need to occupy.

Beyond the aesthetic appeal, what should interior designers know about the build quality and engineering behind Margaroli’s towel warmers?

The range spans two distinct product types. Their heated towel rails are crafted from premium brass, shaped and assembled by hand before being tested for performance and durability. Their radiators, meanwhile, are produced from extruded aluminium and finished using the latest anodizing technology, making them highly efficient and long-lasting. Using brass, while a premium material, has real long-term advantages over mild steel: it cannot rust, it is easy to maintain and it is compatible with any heating system.

You mention galvanic and PVD finishes, why is that important from a design perspective?

PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) is a coating process that produces exceptionally durable, high-quality metallic finishes. This has allowed high-end tap manufacturers to expand their range considerably, but towel rail manufacturers have traditionally been unable to follow suit. The challenge is straightforward: the larger the towel rail, the larger the finishing chamber required. Because Margaroli’s modular process means individual components are finished before being assembled, that constraint disappears. Larger towel rails can now be produced and finished to match the likes of Dornbracht, Axor, Fantini and Gessi, to name a few.

How do Margaroli’s finishes work alongside leading faucet brands?

Margaroli have long-standing relationships with the leading tap manufacturers, so expanding their finishes in line with those brands was a natural step. From warm bronze and pale gold through to dark brass and black metal, it is now possible for a towel rail to match precisely with every other piece of brassware in the bathroom: faucets, showerheads, soap dispensers and hardware. That level of coordination creates a visual coherence that elevates the whole space.

Who do you see being most drawn to this level of finish choice?

Interior designers have always faced a frustrating gap here. Achieving a harmonious match between a heated towel rail and the brassware in the rest of the bathroom has, until now, been genuinely difficult. Margaroli’s development addresses that directly. In commercial settings, particularly hotels and high-end hospitality, consistent brassware contributes significantly to the overall identity and perceived quality of a space. Many of the world’s most prestigious hotels already specify Margaroli for exactly that reason.

From an interior design perspective, what are the key benefits of specifying Margaroli towel warmers?

The ability to introduce a towel warmer that sits seamlessly within the same design language as the rest of the bathroom is a significant development, especially for designers working at the luxury end of the market. Margaroli combines genuine Italian craftsmanship with the structural advantages of brass, supported by a modular manufacturing process that allows for bespoke sizing and refined finishes that can match the very best brassware brands in the world. For a specifier, this thoughtful combination means one fewer compromise in an environment where every detail truly matters.
