“These are radiators you fall a little bit in love with,” Caroline says. “The heat output is excellent. But it’s the design that makes you choose them.”

White radiators might be seen as the default, but they don’t have to be. From deep greens and warm terracottas to rich navy blues and sculptural designs that make a statement without a drop of colour, a radiator can be one of the most considered details in a room. Here’s how to be brave with it.
Most people choose a white radiator without really thinking about it. It’s a safe option. But walk into any of our showrooms and you’ll quickly realise that white is just the beginning.
Radiators come in hundreds of colours, from deep, velvety greens to warm terracottas, blush pinks and deep burnt oranges. From a functional fixture into one of the most thoughtful touches in a room.
“People are often genuinely surprised when they see what’s possible,” says Caroline Duggan, Director at The Radiator Centre. “Once you realise you can have a radiator in almost any colour, it can start to change the way you think about the whole room.”
Bold doesn’t have to mean bright. Some of the most beautiful radiator choices we see are deeply saturated, moody tones that anchor a room rather than shout at it. A column radiator in forest green against warm white walls. A cast iron in inky blue against pale floorboards. A steel column in a rich terracotta that picks up the tones in a wallpaper.
“It’s not about being loud,” Caroline adds. “It’s about choosing a colour that feels considered, and that works with what’s already in the room. Get that right and everything feels more designed.”
Not every statement radiator needs to be colourful. If your room already has bold wallpaper or a vivid colour scheme, a radiator colour matched to the walls or a neutral finish but a striking design can hold its own beautifully without competing.

“Some of our most striking radiators work hardest in a neutral finish,” Caroline says. “The shape, the texture, the finish, that’s where the interest comes from. In a busy room, sometimes the smartest thing a radiator can do is let the rest of the room do the talking.”

Feature walls have come a long way from a single coat of contrasting colour. Bold wallpaper, rich panelling, textured plaster, the options to personalise a space are endless. Add in a radiator that works with that wall rather than against it and you can pull the whole thing together.
“The radiator should feel like it was always part of the plan,” Caroline says. “Pick a colour from your wallpaper, your panelling, even a fabric you love, and we can help you find a finish that ties it all in. It stops the radiator looking like an afterthought and makes it feel like part of the design.”
The Spartan column radiator is a great starting point, adding depth and interest to a statement wall without overpowering it. And with many of our radiators available in popular colours from brands like Coat, Lick and Little Greene, getting the colour exactly right is easier than you might think.
Not all statement radiators make their mark through colour. Some do it through craft.
Hand-painted, created from natural stone and painted with custom artwork by a celebrated French artist, or a radiator finished with a print of your own artwork or a photograph of a favourite place applied directly to the panel, there are radiators that you’d be proud to put on a wall whether they heat the room or not. These aren’t radiators you hide; they’re the first thing people notice when they walk in.
Once you’ve chosen your colour or design, the valves are what complete the picture. A beautifully coloured radiator with the wrong valves can undermine the whole effect.
“The valves are the finishing touch,” Caroline adds. “Get them right and the whole thing sings. We have finishes in satin nickel, antique brass, brushed bronze, matt black and more. Take your time to pair the colour with your overall aesthetic and the radiator itself.”
